I absolutely LOVE this band. Taxi Violence is phe-bloody-nomenal and has international appeal with a dose of local SA flavour.
If you haven’t heard of them or heard any of their music, best you get a move on. Visit their MySpace page and listen there. They are gigging throughout SA and will be in Stellies in the next few days.
You should without a doubt have heard the above song on local radio stations around SA.
Do yourself another favour, support local music, visit the Taxi Violence site and buy their album.
This advert is brilliant. Using people and sports poses in place of gunshots, guns and bombs. Fantastic.
Unfortunately I couldn’t locate the video on youtube or zoopy. Follow the link, check out the blog and see the advert. Sheer brilliance.
UPDATE: The Nike advert has been removed from the blog where I found it. Apparently it’s a part of the bloggers corporate work and he was asked to take it down. As soon as the video has been posted on the official site I will link to it!!
CherryFlava features a phenomenal post on the best SA television adverts.
Here’s a snippet and a video from the post:
Number 1: BMW ‘Mouse’ – a true 80′s Hunt Lascaris / Keith Rose classic. Marketers are to this day still briefing in jobs to their agencies with the instruction that they want a BMW ‘Mouse’ ad. A no-brainer for top spot.
This is a phenomenal advert. I personally don’t think that men are the only ones who are this bad, or that men are this bad in general, but a great ad nonetheless:
Wow it has been a very long time since I heard a South African band with a catching, new, individual and potentially massive sound. Bloodmoney has all of these things.
Maybe I am just in the mood for some rocking SA tunes, or maybe this band is truly fantastic, but the above video is incredible too. I have seen worse videos by some of the biggest bands in the world.
After visiting the bands website I now realise why they sound so damn good. Two of the founding members of Sugardrive are present in the Bloodmoney lineup. Sugardrive had seven albums that I know of so it is no bloody wonder that Bloodmoney sounds the way they do.
