I am in St Francis as I have noted already. I recently found out that there are massive problems here regarding the beach. It’s going away. In fact, it is being wasted away and it looks like the issue is thanks to humans building houses in the wrong places.
These houses are sheltering the beach too much and contributing to the beach not being able to cope. The high tides are higher and the low tides are lower. At high tide it’s actually become impossible to walk on the beach.
Now apparently some smart humans here in St Francis have decided to do something about the situation. They have begun asking the community to help and contribute to the restoration of the beach. Now many of the locals seem to be a bit pissed off about this and refuse to contribute at all to this. They claim that it is Jo’burgers who own houses on the beach and are destroying it and thus should pay for the restoration themselves.
This is absolutely ridiculous bullshit if you step one foot on the beach then you should contribute in any way you can to fixing the issue. Where is our sense of community? It’s incredible that from the largest issues in our country down to the smallest thing in the littlest town people don’t want to take any damn responsibility for their actions.
Yes the government should take this on their shoulders and head up the project and no I don’t know the ins and outs of the issue at all. But I think that at some point you should really take some sort of responsibility for things in your own town. We really need to get involved, get active and own our communities with choices, decisions and action.
