It starts with you – new ad for South Africa

Posted on 30 January 2009 by Nic Haralambous

I have been involved with the It Starts With You organisation (see the video to your left) and the IMC on and off over the past few years.

I am absolutely blown away by the campaign that the Jupiter Drawing Room has put together for them. Have a look:

What are your thoughts? I am quite intrigued by the pay it forward sort of approach that they have taken. I like it. You give, others will see you give, intervene, be nice, kind and do the same and the process is doubled in effort and so on and so on. Let’s hope it’s a real possibility.

Vote…or don’t…or vote maybe

Posted on 02 October 2008 by Nic Haralambous

This might be american-centric but it’s relevant to the post that I wrote yesterday. Vote, register, have a voice, believe in something and if you do, then vote.

YOU HAVE TO VOTE.

SA Rocks and ME on e-TV!!

Posted on 06 August 2008 by Nic Haralambous

Yes, it has happened. I am finally making me TV debut! WooHoo!! It was a long battle let me tell you, I have emailed, called and contacted so many people that I’ve lost count. But it eventually happened!

The IMC has offered to put me in their series called “Movement for good”.

I can’t really say much more but to tell you that if you are awake tomorrow morning (August 7th) at 6:45am, watch e-TV and you’ll see me talking about this very website, SA Rocks!

I will post the video later in the day as I am assured that it will be available online by some very resourceful people (more on that tomorrow).

Product week at SA Rocks!!

Posted on 20 March 2008 by Nic Haralambous

I am hoping in the next week or two to dedicate my SA Rocks blogging efforts to funky, innovative, hip-happening, rocking, brilliant local endeavours.

Basically what I am looking for is a simple email from you telling me what the product is, where it’s available and why you think it’s rocking!

The products can literally be anything. As long as it’s local. A website, T-shirt, design company, invention, innovation, hybrid fruit (I’ve eaten a Grapple – Grape/Apple – before so don’t laugh) or anything else that you think deserves to be recognised and I will consider it as a potential post on SA Rocks Product Week.

I will wait till I have a variety of products before announcing when the actual product week will be but for now start emailing through products you want to promote!

So get cracking, get exposure and get local, ‘Cause it’s lekker – Bru!

SA Promo – Keeping South Africans abroad in touch

Posted on 08 February 2008 by Nic Haralambous

I like projects like SA Promo. I like them because I believe that alot of people who leave SA are either coming back at some point or didn’t want to leave in the first place.

In this way SA Promo provides South Africans with an entry point in to the country they have left for whatever reason and I am fond of this. I am not in the business of calling for punishment for departure or abandonment. I simply believe that some people need to leave SA as much as some need to stay.

Whether I like to admit it or not, I think that everyone has an underlying passion for SA. Whether it is a passion that turns into a hatred or a success and love, either way it’s a passion.

Some explanation of SA Promo Magazine by SA Promo:

SA PROMO Magazine is a South African magazine brought to you by South Africans abroad for South Africans abroad.

South Africans in America, Amsterdam, Asia, Australia, Bangkok, Belgium, Bermuda, Canada, Cyprus, Dubai, Dublin, Egypt, Europe, Finland, Florida, Fort Lordedale, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Korea, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Mauritius, Miami, Middle East, Netherlands, New York, New Zealand, NZ, Oman, Portugal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Sydney, Taiwan, Texas, Thailand, Toronto, Turkey, UK, USA, Vietnam…

With millions of South Africans living Abroad, SA PROMO recognised the need for a medium to network these communities and allow them to communicate with each other in printed and online new media mediums.

Paging through the latest edition, number 9 I think, I noticed a great feature about SA bloggers around the world. This edition featured a blogger in Canada and Thailand.

I think that this magazine can only grow and prove to be a success amongst expats around the world. Hell, I love it and I am still in SA!

Keep up the great work and get reading now.
