Yesterday I had a massive craving for good old, simple, fish and chips.
Good thing I live in Cape Town. I sent out a tweet to get some suggestions for places to go to get the best fish and chips in Cape Town.
I ended up choosing Snoekies in Hout Bay. This is a fish and chips shop that takes me way back to being a little kid. The fish was absolutely exquisite. I went with the Snoek and chips. Fresh with some of the best batter I’ve ever tasted.

Hopefully I’ll be trying out some of the other suggestions below and blogging about them too.

Nic, you’ll enjoy the places suggested but the best fish & chips you’ll ever eat will be from Revelas Fisheries (205 Long Street). Probably the oldest place around, they still use a wood burning frier. Pitty I don’t work in town anymore – I miss my Friday fish roll and chips!

Hi Nic. I was always wondering which fish shop is the most long established in cape town. I know snoekies has been around since 1951. It would be interesting to see if anyone knows any fisheries that has been longer established than that. Wouldn’t it be a good idea to do a post on that?

Are you sure which you have the facts straight? I’ve read several articles that contradict what you said here, so I don’t know what to believe.

Zajímavý článek. Zajímalo by mě jen otázkou, zda je možnost se dále rozvíjet téma. Děkujeme vám velmi hodně.

Snoekies has definitely passed it sell by date; seedy and run down. Get superb fish and chips in Hout bay at Mariner’s wharf, Fish on the Rocks or enjoy superb fish and chips with great views at the Lookout tower.
