South Africa was eliminated early from the world cup games, but they are certainly doing a good job so far in hosting this biggest soccer sporting event on the planet.

On what grounds is the event not going to take place and for the record, the process for submitting applications has only just opened and just on the FIFA website or via telephone or email – as the news gets out, you’ll see this number multiply and multiply.

Of the more than 7 Billion people on earth, 11,000 expressed some vague interest to play some peripheral role in a tournament that is in serious doubt to even take place. Very impressive indeed.

But as South Africa has the least disciplined, most strike-prone “work” force in the world, maybe some of these wildcat strikers, who cripple the country for a few days each month, could find it in their heart to do some good for once.

I am visiting SA at the moment, and I am appalled of the decline this country experiences. I also have seen for myself how starkly different the Western Cape and the rest of the nation is. |A generation from now this country will need to split to keep at least the WC part functioning.
