I absolutely love the idea of virtual tours. The guys over at Virtual Africa are doing a sterling job of capturing Africa and allowing us to view it online, 360degrees around.
Here’s one I found from virtualtourguide of the Union Buildings in Pretoria. Actually quite a magnificent place to visit if you never have. Be sure to look for little white arrows that appear in the images below, click them to be taken to a new venue. Takes a bit of time to load.

Be sure, once things have loaded, to enter “Full screen mode”. You will be amazed.

I used to stay across the road from here on Church Street. We’d walk up and chill on the grass. Jogged up and down those stairs more times than I care to remember too.
Awesome sight from here though.

Thanks for the story Nic. Just a small detail, these images are created by 360sa Virtual Tour Photography (John Gore… me), and not Virtual Africa (Tinus) as the story may seem to suggest.
Interesting story about that image of the Union buildings, is that it was taken of Christmas eve, 2008, and the sky really did look that great. Was a truly beautiful sunset.
Also, the image was captured on a pole, 4 meters up. At first it doesn’t quite seem so high, but look again.. see how small the people are?
