Its so important to define South Africa in the context of Africa, just as it is to define Africa in the context of the world. I recently posted an entry on our blog about how the negative rep SA get really grates me and how i hope it doesnt deter potential 2010 visitors (this was after a visit overseas where one too many people i spoke to were’nt even considering coming down for the tourney for fear of being a victim of crime).

Sites (and voices) like yours are so crucial. Mobilising Africans everywhere to be proud of their continent and respective countries wont happen with Gvt PR…it has to be ‘on the ground’ energy.

I feel the same way. Even though I am living far away right now, my homesickness seems to define me. I cling to South Africa as part of who I am because I feel that it made me who I am.

Obviously I have the choice to move on, but I don’t want to!
