Ten incredible South African Musical Acts

I was thinking the other day, with the launch of Prime Circles new album, Joburg day and Oppikoppi – SA has and has had some really talented musicians in it’s history.

Here’s a list and videos for ten incredible South African Musicians or Music acts.

Johnny Clegg

Miriam Makeba

Mango Groove

Soweto Gospel Choir

The Parlotones

The Springbok Nude Girls

Squeal

Unfortunately there isn’t much information or any videos that I could find for Squeal. But I have had the pleasure of working with one of the original members, Dave Birch on an album. The man is a genius.

for more information check out the only real resource I could find, Rock.co.za.

Karen Zoid

Lucky Dube

Loyiso

Please don’t go bashing me for my choices. These are not THE BEST, THE MOST, THE ONLY, these are just ten that think are spectacular and South African. So please add to the list and link to videos and websites so that we can expand on this!

As you asked so politely, I won’t bash you for your choice of “spectacular and South African” acts. But none of them would make it into my Top-100.
