SA Wine Harvest 2008

Posted on 13 March 2008

There are a number of wine farms in South Africa covering their harvest this year via video and blogging.

It’s a great way to show exactly what goes on behind the scenes of those magic bottles of wine – sometimes you learn a thing or two and other times, as a wino, you merely enjoy the entertainment!

Here are a few I’ve been following:

Warwick Wine Blog

Wine Films – Harvest 2008 Report

Vilafonte Wine Blog

Beyerskloof

Backsberg’s Blog

I think it’s a great idea and something every wine farm should be doing – it enables people who cannot get to the farms, to feel some sort of connection with the wine they are drinking.

Thanks for the exposure for our online Video Blogs for Warwick and Vilafonte wine estates. Did you know that Vilafonte was the first winery in the world to have a blog? Another South African first. We were also the first winery in the world to post videos on our site that were almsot live and updated regularly.
We are now the first winery in the world to publish our blog in a book form which you can purchase online at http://www.blurb.com/my/book/detail/165132
    All the best,
    Mike

Fairview wine estate has also included a number of videos in their blog (www.blog.fairview.co.za) following the 2009 harvest of their Sauvignon Blanc from the vine to the cellar. They are hosted by the farm’s owner, Charles Back.
