There is a fine line between being happy, content, complacent and positive.
The reason I mention this is because I have found myself being somewhat complacent recently.
Let’s look at the definition of complacent:
A feeling of contentment or self-satisfaction, especially when coupled with an unawareness of danger, trouble, or controversy.
I am never shy of controversy but I think that lately I am purposefully looking away from the danger or trouble that is often around me.
Part of the reason for this is because of the stress that I have had in the last few months. This is over and above anything irregular in terms of my everyday life. Work stress is more than enough, let alone external stress such as crime and the state of our nation.
My point? It’s a simple one, being positive is a necessity in my life, however being complacent is ignorant and will probably land me up in some trouble. Being positively aware of ones surroundings is probably the best way to continue. Being negatively complacent is impossible and not healthy at all. And being negative as a base starting point can’t be good for you life either.
I think I need to be more aware of my surroundings as well as self-aware.
