It’s almost like the nonsense of giving sport’s stadiums sponsor’s names. Like Vodacom Park Newlands.. or is it Norwich Park or what was the other one.. I forget.. Everybody on the street still refers to it as ‘Newlands’.. that’s it. The same with the Cricket Stadiums.. We now have 3 Different ‘Sahara’ type parks, grounds or whatever around. What are do these idiots thin they are spending their money on? Newlands Cricket ground will remain ‘Newlands’. In a couple of years a new sponsor will come along. But it will still be ‘Newlands’. The same goes for the cricket team. I don’t think I have ever heard any of my friends who are cricket fans refer to them as the ‘Proteas’. They will talk about ‘Did you see how ‘South Africa’ played in the third test against the Windies?’.. The same will go for Rugby. You cannot change a name and think people will start using it just because you ‘officially’ changed it. Sheer madness..
