I have been meaning to post this since I first read it over at Matt’s blog. I don’t think I post enough theatre, art, exhibition and basically cultural stuff on SA Rocks. So this was a great piece of news for me!

Matt’s brother, Daniel, has been selected to join Cirque du Soleil.

I am extremely proud of Daniel (even though I don’t know him). Cirque du Soleil is world famous and Daniel is representing South Africa and doing a sterling job of it. Apparently Daniel will be moving to Las Vegas for some time. What a stunning achievement.

Congratulations Daniel and I hope that you have a stunning time in Vegas and live it up. Try get a seat at the World Series of Poker while you’re there, that’ll be fun!

Here’s a brief excerpt about Daniel from an article over at Tonight:

Since he graduated with an honours degree in drama in 2002 at Rhodes University, (where his father is a professor) the youngest of Andrew and Janet Buckland’s three sons has steadily carved a niche for himself as a singular performer with companies as illustrious as the Bucklands’ Mouthpeace and Sylvaine Strike’s Fortune Cookie Theatre.
