2010 to late?

Some may argue that it’s utter bullshit that only now, thanks to 2010, things are being done in SA to change the state of things.

I am of the mind that any sort of jump-start is worthwhile, necessary and relevant. Better late than never.

Do you think that things have been left for too long? Is 2010 to late and should we be making such a point of doing all this work specifically for 2010 world cup? Should we not be making a difference for the citizens of SA instead of the visiting tourists?

I am interested to know what your thoughts are.

The world cup is going to last an entire four weeks. Its going to bring a lot of money into the country, and hopefully a few regular vistors.

However, considering how expensive money has become (look at world markets and how credit in particular has been affected) this world cup is going to cost us a fortune to host. All the infrastructure that needs to be built is going to cost more then expected.

Bottom line, everyone thinks that the world cup is going to turn people into millionaires everywhere. It takes more then a 4 week event to turn a countries economy into a powerhouse.

Its been blown out of proportion. There is so much bad in SA, people are harping on about the World Cup as if its a saving grace for South Africans. Its a mjor event for us, but its hardly going to have the economic, social and political ramifications we need to uplift people.

    Let people dream
