* to experience what friendly service can be like!
* to have access to masses of cheap and excellent wine that doesn't have to be imported from anywhere
* to drive on some of the loveliest roads in the world
* to experience the noise of an African night (and I'm talking crickets and frogs here, not burglar alarms, gunshots and sirens) - the European night is a dead affair...
* to smell the rain on hot tarred roads
* to walk the length of Robberg Beach
* to spend a night in the Karoo and see the Milky Way like you've never seen it before
* to eat koeksusters! And biltong, waterblommetjiebredie, karoo lamb, butterfish, ostrich steak, malvapoeding and Peppermint Crisp fridge tart ;-)

Brilliant response. Too often people forget about our pleasant disposition here in SA. Ubuntu is definitely one thing we have over most nations!!

I've just been on holiday to the Garden Route and if there's one thing I've noted time and time again about our country, South Africa, is that the beauty of our people is unsurpassed.

Considering the amount of turmoil that we have been through as a nation, we are only a decade and a bit down into our infant democracy, but can boast a togetherness and spirit that is truly inspiring. We can hold our heads high because we have truly come together and embraced 'ubuntu'.

No matter what people may say about the crime and other devastating statistics, South Africa is like any other country trying to find its 'right' path and the correction of societal ills is what plagues every country in the world.

It's a shame that so many people use these vices as a means to discourage other nations from visiting our shores. We have a lot of diversity and cultural richness to offer and that should be celebrated.
Viva South Africa, viva!

I miss SA loads (currently living in the UK) and am proud of where I come from. I boast about South Africa to all my friends here and would love to "show-off" all the lovely beaches, wine estates, sunshine, culture, Blue Peter for drinks at sunset, etc. So why should people visit ... to understand why I suffer from home sickness and get a true/real picture of SA.

Haha, possibly, there is a link there. :) I just think us South Africans forget how huge this race is on an international stage, it's some to be truly proud of. There is nothing like it, anywhere else.
