Brilliant SA Television Advert

This is a phenomenal advert. I personally don’t think that men are the only ones who are this bad, or that men are this bad in general, but a great ad nonetheless:

It is funny. The 1st for women thing is a bit sexist though…

    LOL!

I don’t think it’s sexist, though. As a woman, stuff that is marketed at women only also p**’s me off if it has no real gender grounds, but with the car insurance offer it is based on combining actual statistics and a clever target market focus. Nope, it doesn’t mean women are better drivers (what determines that anyway? Speed? Safety?), it just means on average, the claims in total coming from women are lower. Same thing with age: on average, your twenty-something will probably be more likely, statistically, to have a car written off in an accident than your eighty-something (however, the eighty-something will have a lot of scrapes on the bumper). This is not age discrimination, it is just stats and that rules in 3rd party insurance premium calculations. You get the same thing in life insurance, by the way: women live, on average, around ten years longer and thus, we pay a lower risk premium. Unfortunately, when we save for retirement, we have to save more because of that same longevity factor. And this is all based on statistical facts.

By far one of the best adverts on tv. No matter what you say, there is a whole load of truth in those 30secs. Make me laugh every time I see it.
