South Africans Rocking The Athletics World Stage

It seems as though the air down here in the South coupled with the pap that we are fed is paying off! Below are some incredible stories of SA athletes triumphing on the international scene. It’s so good to hear that hard work does pay off!

Godfrey Mokoena
, an SA long jumper has recorder yet another win on the 2007 World Athletics tour circuit. Mokoena won his first event in Dakar with a massive jump of 8,32 metres. He then went on to Osaka, Japan and repeated the incredible jump to take another victory.

Estie Wittstock
ran a scorching seasons best in the 400m race to win at the CAA permit meeting in Gaborone, Botswana.

Kagiso Kumbane
destroyed the field in his 100m and 200m victories at the IAAF B-qualifier.

Leigh Julius
took third place with a 20,79sec sprint in the gold meeting Sesi Caixa in Uberlandia, Brazil.

Geraldine Pillay
finished seventh in the 200m in the Jamaica International on Saturday with a time of 24,27sec.

    That’s exactly it. Space. Everything is so cluttered over there. However I’ve learned to love the clutter, and there are days that I miss it immensely. I know for sure, had I had the opportunity to go back to the UK permanently I’d have done so without thinking twice.
    As much as I love South Africa the country, nature, climate, the outlook on life, so much I fear for my life every single day. Its no longer safe to let your kids ride their bicycles to school. Such a pity. This country has such potential.
