Let’s put this issue to rest once and for all. Listen carefully when I say this…unless there is a natural disaster preventing it, South Africa WILL host the 2010 Soccer World Cup. If this fantastical Natural Disaster never arrives then SA will take the cake and host one of the biggest sporting events in the world!
Fifa president Sepp Blatter insisted Tuesday that South Africa will definitely host the 2010 World Cup barring a natural disaster. Read the full story at the MG.
Straight out of the horses mouth (Sepp Blatter):
I can tell you that unless there is a natural catastrophe, then the World Cup 2010 will definitely be in South Africa, he said.
It is my last statement on this. I will repeat it in the Fifa Congress [later this month]. There will be seven South African ministers there and I will have a special meeting with them.
They have been alarmed because we said we had contingency plans, but we always have contingency plans or it wouldn’t be good governance.

The issue is not whether South Africa will HOST the world cup, but whether we will have a team that won’t disgrace us because the suits decided to change the coach a few weeks before the competition.

I must be honest, I think that I disagree with you on this one. I think that over and above the team the most important thing is that the tournament actually happens and is a success. I think that another approach to it is that we should probably begin thinking that this coach might stick it out, that he might do well and that we might perform… just maybe? Or am I pushing the boundaries of reality?
Let’s begin thinking about the fact that we actually are going to succeed in hosting a kick ass first – AN AFRICAN FOOTBALL WORLD CUP!!

Well, I hope it’s as successful as the Africa Cup of Nations in 1996 or the ruby world cup, and not like the cricket world cup!

Just wait until the first tourists are raped and killed, then the rest will leave almost overnight. I think the world cup in SA will be a disaster not to be missed. This country is such a joke!

Hey Paul – I think maybe you should piss off out of the country then. How bout that for an idea? This country doesn’t need people like you. Go pollute some other nation.
