I received an email today from a very downtrodden and depressed lady, Lesego, who seems to have the weight of the African continent on her shoulders. She is trying to start up an initiative called the African Hall Of Fame (AHOF).
According to the site the AHOF is trying to show the world how wonderful Africa is:
To create a world class arts and culture institution of research, documentation and learning about past, present and potential African Greats who have made a significant contribution to the development of sport, music, film and the arts in Africa and around the world. To educate people of all generations around the world about the rich cultures of Africa.
Now this is not a particularly South African rocking project, but we are a part of Africa and this initiative seems to be one that is extremely positive and would be ridiculously beneficial if it is done properly.
I firmly believe that praising those that have done great things is a wonderful way to inspire others to great things. The AHOF appears to be one such initiative that could aspire great things. Never mind the potential chain reaction of “hall of fame” concepts this single hall could generate as well as the potential for tourism.
