It is time, at last to reveal the final badges for the SA Rocks badge competition. It is now your turn to vote, please make use of the poll in this post to vote! Which badge would you place on your site or blog? Your vote will count 50% of the result! The other 50% will be made up of the judges votes.

The reason that I chose Paul and Vincent is their involvement in the competition from the start. Paul sort of came up with the idea and Vincent helped me with the specs for the badges and competition. These two both have extensive experience online and with regard to design in one way or another.

Hey Nic, quick comment. The lettering was a bit confusing when I tried to vote. It may be an idea to space it so that the letters are closer to the actual designs – I initially thought the top one (the original logo) was ‘A’.

I’ve voted for G, mainly because it is the only one that includes the flag. Thinking about a foreigner happening on any of the others I’m not sure they would know just what it is that you think rocks. Assuming they realise SA refers to a country would they think South Africa, or Saudi Arabia? After all our ISO country code is ZA while SA belongs to Saudi Arabia. I like G because the flag adds that little bit of an extra visual key to what SA refers to.

DTP-challenged, here’s what I would like to be able to make (designers out there, please help me out):
Table mountain (a rock of a landmark) with those Hollywood letters: SA Rocks.
Of course the flag has to be included and maybe the url to the site?
BTW: the ‘I think SA Rocks’ ones (G) are good in design, but the ‘I think’ part makes them lame – you make a statement or what?
Once ‘my’ design is in, I will vote for it

I agree with Sjefke – “G” is really nice and will be much better without the “I think” part… at the end of the day the badge validates that the user thinks “SA ROCKS” so to say it again in the badge is like a duplicate statement.
Also – I suggest changing your title image (site design) to align with the winning badge, which will be a nice brand alignment excercise.

tripeak: Thanks for your comments, I’ll suggest to the designer (if they win) to change the “I Think” part!
