Wine Around the Corner
Whenever I have friends here in Cape Town visiting and wanting to go on a wine route, there is one farm that is always a mandatory stop: Camberley.

For me, there simply isn’t a more relaxed and down to earth wine tasting experience than the one you have at Camberley. Right from the moment you walk through owner John Nel’s front door, into his small cellar and up to the tasting room – you feel right at home and welcome.

It will only take you a sniff and a small sip to fall in love with his wines – all of them! From the easy drinking Philosophers Stone, to the smooth and elegant Cabernet Sauvigon Merlot and the award winning Pinotage – the wines are provocatively powerful and full of charming character.

Given only the slightest bit of encouragement and Nel will have a few more bottles open and won’t hesitate to tell you, with jovial passion in his eyes, to help yourself to more of his magical wines.

The enduring essence of Camberley is that it is unpretentious and honest – go there and you will see what I mean. Whats more is that the wines are superlative and the drive over the Helshoogte Pass to get there, simply breathtaking.
