You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be actually something which I think I would never understand. It seems too complex and extremely broad for me. I am looking forward for your next post, I’ll try to get the hang of it!

Cape Town - every second Saturday, Girlie braais. No men allowed.

We're not gay or men-haters but there are a lot of single women in Cape Town, who yearn for a braai and might be too scared to try or feel what's the point for only one person.

So about a year ago, a friend and I started the girlie braai. What a hit it has become!

We're an assorted group of women (35+, married, single, employed, unemployed) who get together every 2nd Saturday - weather-permitting - to braai and chat.

We use a PINK lighter and we don't faff about. 2hrs from fire-lighting (about 3pm) you're eating. It's Bring Your Own and over time the ladies have outdone themselves in the side dishes, sauces, breads and all the other lovely stuff we're usually too scared to experiment on our families with :) We've also been introduced to regional favourites - just about everyone in the group comes from somewhere else in SA - old family recipes & traditions

We women LOVE our braais (and the chat & skinner) and we enjoy getting our food the way we want it, when we want it.

Apart from the lively conversation, we also share our music interests (sometimes people will bring a CD so we discover new music) and generally network. Firm friendships have been made as well as business contacts, job-leads and of course the indispensable support & advice. By 5/6pm we're done

So ladies, start a girlie braai group yourselves or come join us sometime. We love meeting new people!

And what do you do in a family with 7 daughters and no sons???
You let the GIRLS braai!!!

Yes, my father was a VERY progressive man, and my braais are legendary here in the Great White North.

As soon as the snow melts (sometime in May), repeat after me... as soon as the snow melts...
