These guys are rocking it on the rocks. OK not necessarily on the rocks, but near the rocks, occasionally, sometimes and hopefully not too often if they are good! Which they are, good I mean. Team Shosholoza is the first South African team to participate in the America’s Cup. The America’s Cup is said to be the “Formula 1 of sailing”.

An explanaition of the America’s Cup from Team Shosholoza‘s website:

During the 32nd Cup, the excitement will begin to grow as soon as the first starting signal is given: eleven challengers – including Team Shosholoza with its Official Chief Sponsor T-Systems, and the defending champion, Team Alinghi from Switzerland, will compete for about two years, including the preliminary regattas, until the new winner is determined in 2007.

Some facts about Team Shosholoza:

  • Their Campaign started in 2004
  • The RSA 48 (a second hand yacht) was the teams initial training session yacht.
  • January 2005: T-Systems announces its involvement as the “Official Chief Sponsor” of Team Shosholoza
  • The Shosholoza yacht was the first boat for the historical race to be built in South Africa
  • The completed Yacht RSA 83 was officially christened in Valencia.
